Amid Europe's gloom, Spain blossoms with short-term jobs

Article Abstract:

Spain has created the "Spanish Miracle" by cutting it's unemployment rate from 20 percent to 9.4 percent in the past ten years. Revolving employment contracts for low-paid, short-term work that last up to six months have contributed to the countries economic growth, creating a flexible labor market and outpacing other European countries.

Euro Zone faces broad stagnation in manufacturing

The manufacturing industry is stagnating in the European Union due to soaring oil prices, a strong Euro and rising unemployment that decreases consumer spending and is slowing economic growth. Currently, unemployment is 8.9 percent or 12.8 million workers.

E.On closes in on Endesa deal

E.On AG of Germany has sweetened its offer for Endesa S.A. of Spain to 37 billion Euros ($47 billion). The offer is expected to end a 13 months long takeover and open the door to increased energy sector mergers in the European Union.
