An adaptive TS approach to JIT sequencing with variable processing times and sequence-dependent setups

Article Abstract:

A tabu search approach is found to provide good and quick solutions for the single-machine sequencing problem with variable processing times and sequence dependent setups. The study also finds that an adaptive neighborhood generation model that may be used to enhance computational efficiency with evaluation results finding the approach outperforming several other methods in both convergence rate and solution quality.

Optimal production cycles, procurement schedules, and joint investment in an imperfect production system

Article Abstract:

The study of optimal production cycles, procurement schedules and joint investment reveals that replenishment expenses for input materials and quality expenses for defective products could markedly influence maximum lot size for the end product. Moreover, the purchase order size for the input materials increases as production run time is lessened.
