An electronic bolt from the blue

Article Abstract:

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) is allowing Treasury bond futures to be electronically traded. Meanwhile, the Cantor Financial Futures Exchange will start trading in US government bond futures from Sep 8, providing there is approval from the regulators. The CBOT Has sought to persuade the market regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, to block the Cantor exchange, but approval is likely to be granted. Cantor aims to undercut the prices charged by the CBOT.

Everlasting LIFFE

Article Abstract:

The London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) has been the fastest growing exchange in 15 years since it was established and it now needs to expand further if it is to maintain its current growth rate. LIFFE managers are planning to expand but the direction is yet undetermined. LIFFE has to expand as its German counterpart is slowly gaining ground and is threatening to steal LIFFE's market share as European Monetary Union will exclude Britain.

Is the commodity ball over?

Article Abstract:

Commodity price indexes have traditionally been a reliable economic indicator, as rising prices meant growing economic activity. When factors other than supply and demand are affecting prices than they are less reliable, as what may be the case now, as prices are falling.
