Ad agencies' hopes still buoyant across Asia, despite slower growth

Article Abstract:

The Asian advertising industry is looking for another banner year in 2001, despite the apparent economic slowdown partly because of the established momentum, Nevertheless, others in the industry are not as optimistic, fearing a downturn in the U.S. economy could have an even bigger impact on Asia. Advertising spending in China and Japan are discussed.

Asian CEOs talk recovery; surveys reveal a sanguine spin despite dismal economic forecasts

Article Abstract:

A survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed that Asian CEOs are very optimistic about the outlook for the region. Acting chief executive John Wheatley in Bangkok expressed concern over the disconcerting optimism shown by the CEOs which could mean that they have not come to grips with the crisis and that they are not adjusting their strategies according to the situation. The survey of the 282 CEOs of companies with at least an annual revenue of $250 million showed the optimism of 71% ranged from extremely optimistic to somewhat optimistic about corporate growth.
