Sony Corp. has appointed Howard Stringer Chief Executive Officer. One of his first duties was to reintroduce the Connect service, an online music download service similar to Apple Computer Inc.'s iTunes store and an effort to bring cooperation between the United States and Japanese technology people within the consumer electronics giant.

Toshiba to move four units out of parent group
