Australia's promising 50-plus market

Article Abstract:

A survey of 1,000 Australian households with people over the age of fifty, conducted by R.J. Donovan & Associates (a marketing consulting firm), found that the 50-plus population had average or better financial status, and more disposable income than the average Australian population as a whole. The 4.1 million Australians who comprise the 50-plus population represent a market of $10 to $15 billion annually, one of the most neglected markets in Australia. Other survey findings among the 50-plus population include: more than 85 percent watch television daily, national magazine and newspaper readership is low, only 45 percent had used a credit card in the previous three months, and 79 percent rated their financial standing as average to better than average.

Plus points for regional law firms

Article Abstract:

Regional law companies are increasingly taking on work which has to date been dominated by City-based law firms. Companies in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham are competing with those in London, and not only in cost alone. Quality of service is an important issue, and many clients enjoy the hands-on approach offered by many regionals. Many regional companies have invested in training, recruitment, information technology and BS5750 accreditation.
