Austria/Germany: No more Integral trains from Austria

Article Abstract:

Connex AG, German Frankfurt-based subsidiary of French Vivendi group, is taking over the Integral train division of Austrian Jenbacher AG by the end of 2001. The last one of the 17 Integral trains will be delivered from Austria to Bayerische Oberlandbahn in October 2001. It has not been settled yet where Connex will produce the Integral trains in future. The plan to make them at a former Adtranz factory in Nuremberg has failed. The project with Integral trains has cost Jenbacher about Sch 300mn. Now the company is to concentrate on its core business of gas motors. The company expects to double turnover within 3-5 years. In 2001 sales are expected to rise from Sch 3bn to Sch 4bn.
