Austria: decline in recycling of waste paper

Article Abstract:

According to THE waste paper recycling organisation (ARO), the amount of waste paper collected in Austria in 2001 has only slightly increased. In 2001, some 507,000 tonnes of waste paper and used packaging (including paper, cartons, cardboard and corrigated board) were collected, which was an increase of only 0.6% compared to 2000. During the previous four years the average growth of collected waste paper was 5.9%, which indicates that Austrians are no longer so environmentally aware.
