Automatic weather reports

Article Abstract:

Enator Telub, a company based in Sweden, has introduced Automatic Weather Observation System (AWOS) as the fourth generation system in its Sigma series of air traffic management systems. The aim of the system is to create, edit and distribute meteorological reports. It uses a client/server architecture and offers automatic acquisition, presentation of sensor data and processing. The sensor data is processed complying with ICAO and WMO regulations. Information is presented in the form of instant values in monitoring window, and assembled and formatted into different reports automatically.

Effective weather observation

Article Abstract:

Aerotech Telub, a division of the Saab group based in Sweden, has introduced its fourth-generation weather-reporting system that has been designed to acquire, process and present weather reports automatically. In addition, the automatic weather observation system (AWOS) can report wind, present weather, cloud base and amount, temperature, dew-point and pressure. AWOS is part of the company's integrated air traffic control systems product which includes a radar display system, a flight plan system, a message server, an environmental monitoring system and an airport administration system.

Coming out of the clouds

Article Abstract:

Vaisala Oy in Finland has launched two new products to include to its already wide range of meteorological equipment. The CT 25K, which is its newest ceilometer, uses a pulsed-diode laser system with Lidar technology. It can find clouds, precipitation and other objects blocking the vision. It can also ascertain cloud heights and vertical visibility of as high as 25,000 ft, or 7.5 km. The optical design leads to precise measurement from zero height. The instrument is developed to be compact and relatively light. The CT 25K is located on a single-leg pedestal with a rotating shaft.
