Azerbaijan's gas hopes spur confidence

Article Abstract:

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic has confidence that its Shah Deniz offshore oil field will produce enough natural gas to raise Azerbaijan's exports to 15 billion cubic meters yearly. Executives from foreign oil firms believe Azerbaijan's natural gas exports could reach 15 billion cubic meters by 2007. Azerbaijan will have stiff competition in the race to sell natural gas to Turkey, which is predicting natural gas consumption of 55 billion cubic meters in 2010.

EU invites Turkey to discuss joining

Article Abstract:

Though the European Union has announced its intention to initiate membership negotiations with Turkey on October 3, 2005, several EU countries are objecting to the potential admission of the mainly Muslim nation. The debate between those in favor and those against Turkey's joining the EU is expected to raise questions as to the definition of Europe and what it means to be a member of the European Union.

Hama, Syria, is working to establish new companies to utilize the wealth within the city and take advantage of new legislation to help new companies to grow. The first project that is under development is the al-Ahliya Vegetable Oil Co.
