BANNARI AMMAN NET UP 30%, DIVIDEND AT 25%

Article Abstract:

Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd (BASL) has posted 30 percent rise in net profit to Rs17.24 crore in 1997-98 (Rs13.24 crore in 1996-97). The company has recommended a dividend of 25 percent for 1997-98. Net sales improved by two percent to Rs148.37 crore (Rs144.95 crore). BASL has produced 736,000 tonnes of sugar (11.80 lakh tonnes). Decline in sugar output has been attributed to drop in supply of sugarcane due to drought in Satyamangalam area and diversion of cane in the Nanjangud belt. (gs)

BANNARI AMMAN PLANS TO DOUBLE CANE CRUSHING CAPACITY

Article Abstract:

Bannari Amman Sugars Limited (BASL) at Nanjangud near Mysore proposes to double its sugar cane crushing capacity at a cost of Rs20 crore. It proposes to raise the capacity to 5,000 tonnes crushed per day (tcd) from 2,500 tcd. BASL also proposes to establish a co-generation plant at a cost of Rs30 crore for generating power. It is expected to complete the capacity expansion programme by June 2000 AD. (ag)

MAHADESHWARA SUGAR MILLS TO RESUME CRUSHING FROM DEC 15

Article Abstract:

Sri Mahadeshwara Sugar Mills, a part of the Khodays group, is expected to resume sugarcane crushing operations by December 15, 1998 after a gap of almost 3 years. The company, which has a crushing capacity of about 2500 tonnes of sugarcane per day, has started rehauling the machines needed for the crushing operations. The company has also cleared all arrears due to the farmers. (khr)
