BBC World to overhaul its programming

Article Abstract:

British Broadcasting Corp.'s global commercial channel, BBC World, announced a schedule change that introduces a half-hour newscast at the top of every hour in an attempt to capture the upscale travelling audience. BBC World, which is funded by advertising and cable subscriptions, said the half-hour newscast would run around the clock, 365 days a year, beginning in April. The regular, shorter newscasts will replace longer, less-frequent programs, a move designed to attract advertisers. There will be a new daily world business program, as well as increased business and sports coverage in other programming.
