Hess Agrees To Acquire Lasmo In $3.5 Billion Deal

Article Abstract:

New York, NY-based Amerada Hess Corp. will acquire Lasmo PLC for $3.5 billion in cash and stock. The deal, which provides Amerada Hess with a greater global reach, also will increase Hess' oil and gas reservces from 1 billion barrels to 1.83 billion barrels.

TotalFina to acquire Elf in sweetened bid valued at 47 billion euros

Article Abstract:

TotalFina SA has reached an agreement to acquire Elf Aquitaine SA. The deal will make TotalFina the fourth-largest oil firm in the world. The deal brought a contentious takeover fight to an end. TotalFina increasd its all-share offer for Elf by as much as 9.2%. The higher bid brought Elf's value up to 47 billion euros. Under the terms of the deal, both companies will have equal representation on the combined firm's executive committee and board.
