Ball babes

Article Abstract:

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club runs the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London, England, and is not willing to speak to the press, even if questions are sent to the committe beforehand. Tennis players are well protection, though they appear well able to defend themselves, and the public has an interest in the psychological dramas involved. There are a number of achievements in the way that the tournament is run, but there is also a need to reform some practices such as the way that tickets are sold.

If in doubt, bash the French

Article Abstract:

French culture is sometimes characterized as exasperating, and there has been a fashion for being rude about the French. US views of France may call it rule-bound, yet French culture represents many attributes that Americans like, which may also evoke insecurity among Americans. France has also been represented as dominated by intellectuals who misuse jargon. It is not easy to encapsulate French ideas and arts, and the caricature does not reflect the complex reality.

Candy, pigs and politicians

Article Abstract:

State fairs are held each year in the mid-west of America and include a variety of attractions, based on agriculture, with celebrations of foodstuffs such as corn dogs. Farmers can use the fairs as a trade show, advertising standards of excellence. The fairs developed from European medieval fairs and have their own long history. Politicians have used these fairs, and companies are seeing them as important events with 21 corporate sponsors at Illinois' fair.
