Article Abstract:

A considerable number of cross-border ger and acquisition deals were agreed by Finnish, Norwegian, Italian and UK companies in Europe in the first quarter of 1996. However, cross-border activity as a whole in the period was considerably more limited than analysts had been expecting. The leading European sellers were the UK, Germany and France, with the UK being the seller in the three largest deals.
