Good prospects predicted for German private power

Article Abstract:

Analysts believe that there will be developments in privatisation in the German electricity industry during 1997. Factors suggesting this include the fiscal difficulties being experienced by some municipal owners of local utilities and the industrial burden of high electricity prices. Analysts believe that there is an increasing possibility of legal challenges to pricing structures as similar consumers are experiencing a wide variety of tariffs. Developments are also expected in other major German infrastructure projects during early 1997.
