Led by a woman named Meng Dani, Chinese laborers are working very successfully on Russian farms, to the benefit of Russia's economy . Some Russian officials see this as the answer to Russia's agricultural labor problems, while others fear the social implications of a large influx of Chinese immigrants. China is also looking to Russia's oil and gas reserves, to supply energy for its thriving economy.

Chemical stew: Russian city braces for China's big spill

The city of Khabarovsk, Russia is bracing for a benzene spill traveling down the Amur River from an industrial accident in China. Tensions exist between Russians and Chinese emigres as China's industrial expansion has caused environmental stress for Russian border cities, bringing up past bad memories of insurgencies. People who live in Khabarovsk have been stockpiling clean water supplies.
