Both Alitalia suitors promise capital input, fleet overhaul

Article Abstract:

Italian airline Air One S.p.A. and Air France-KLM S.A. have stated they will inject capital into Linee Aeree Italiane S.p.A. (Alitalia) should either of them become successful in acquiring the airline. Officials in the Italian government, however, which owns 49.9% of Alitalia, are divided regarding a preferred partner. While some ministers want the airline to partner with a major international carrier, others believe the airline should remain under Italian ownership.
