Bringing up baby

Article Abstract:

Suppliers of infant care products have come up with a variety of marketing schemes to promote their products. Some such as Payless ShoeSource, Gerber Products Co and Johnson and Johnson are giving away free samples of their products. Others such as H.J. Heinz Co of Canada and 'Today's Parent' magazine, have established baby clubs. Instead of a baby club, Kimberly- Clark created Parentsages.com, an Internet site that provides information about infants' and children's products.

Global where possible, local where necessary; P&G may be phasing out the last of its distinctly Canadian brand names, but president Tim Penner insists that doesn't mean the company here is now a passive branch plant

Article Abstract:

Procter and Gamble Canada's Tim Penner is being careful about the brand loyalty of Canadian consumers. He doesn't want to lose customers due to haste and insensitivity. Royale brand bathroom tissue will become Charmin, but slowly. It is part of the globalization of the corporate marketing plan, but Mr. Penner hopes there will be no bad feelings toward Cincinnati. It's a business necessity with kid gloves.
