British on holiday at home

Article Abstract:

Britons currently spend more than 25 billion pounds sterling, or 6% of total consumer expenditure, on holidays every year. Domestic tourism accounts for only 40% of this expenditure, but its share is no longer declining. Some 69% of adults take a domestic holiday at some time, but only 31% always holiday at home. The most popular destination is the west country, accounting for 22% of holidays in Britain, followed by the southern region and East Anglia.
