South Korean telecommunications companies LG Telecom Co., Powercomm Co., Hanaro Telecom Inc., Korea Thrunet Co., and Dacom Corp. have formed an alliance to compete with dominant providers Korea Telecom Co. and SK Telecom Co. Analysts wonder if the firms will have problems with ownership and management control in such a large union.

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. is using worst-case scenarios to predict how much value would be lost if the company's investments in third-generation mobile services fail to be profitable. Analysts are recommending Hutchison stock as a buy, but investors should remember that scenarios do not always forecast accurately.
