Brussels takes moderate line on TV Without Frontiers

Article Abstract:

An amendment to the TV Without Frontiers directive which sought to ban all advertising during children's programmes in Europe has been rejected following a debate in the European Parliament. MEPs also voted to exclude all new media from the scope of the directive and to abandon plans to limit the volume of television advertising airtime. However, it was agreed to introduce a V-Chip screening device into all television sets.
