Building the infrastructure of a new world

Article Abstract:

Infrastructure projects in South-East Asia had slowed down by Jun 1998 compared to Jun 1997 but elsewhere in the world there had not been a similar decline. Infrastructure financing has increased slightly, with Taylor-DeJongh, Cleary, Gottlieb and MacRoberts securing more deals than in 1997. Companies tend to work best in regions with which they are familiar. UK companies do well in Western Europe and Asia while American firms concentrate on the Americas. Is is advisable to finance projects in the domestic currency to avoid foreign exchange problems.
