Article Abstract:

The British are not to be hurried into a final agreement with the Chinese over the future of Hong Kong. The British have claimed that any agreement must receive the approval of the people of Hong Kong. No means for doing so have been initiated. The Chinese have offered proposals on the future government of Hong Kong. The British are focusing on preparing Hong Kong for self-rule.

Buoyant M&A market boosts UK MBOs

Article Abstract:

The UK saw a record 81 MBOs of more than $15.5 million in 1994, and the highest levels of buyout activity in terms of number and value since 1989. Strong expansion of the merger and acquisition market could push management buy-out levels even higher in 1995. However, prospects could be badly affected by political uncertainty.
