Busy sales season ahead in Canada

Article Abstract:

Several new privatization projects are developing in Ontario, Canada, including the planned, but not immediate, sale of Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Ontario Hydro and TV Ontario, In Manitoba, legislation is set to take place approving the C$700 million public offering for Manitoba Telephone Services, otherwise known as the Manitoba Telephone System. Meanwhile, the federal government is seeking private operators to take over the running of two Marine Atlantic ferry services.

Romanians rush to subscribers for vouchers

Article Abstract:

Romania's winter privatization programme ended in March 1996, by which time more than 75% of the country's 17.8 million population had subscribed to the scheme. The non-transferable voucher scheme for citizens was completed successfully, despite little available information on the companies taking part. The final number of companies on offer is 3,944, of which some 800 have a limited number of shares available to the public.
