CENTRE ON SOP CIRCUIT FOR TOURISM SECTOR

Article Abstract:

The Government of India, as a part of according industry status to tourism sector, is planning to offer several revenue concessions. The Government is likely to give zero duty EPCG scheme to tour, travel agencies and customs duty exemption to imports of gym equipment, sauna and jacuzzi. It is likely to give 100 percent income tax exemption to foreign exchange earning tour and travel agencies, allow duty free imports of air-conditioned buses or cars or capital goods upto Rs1 crore. It also likely to offer excise duty exemption to tour operators buying luxury buses and cars from the domestic market. Duty exemptions to agencies offering herbal and ayurvedic treatments under 'Heritage tourism" are under consideration. The Finance Ministry has notified that 150 items are brought under duty-free imports. (rk)

CORE GROUP SET UP FOR SOFTWARE EXPORTS FROM AP

Article Abstract:

The Export Promotion Committee of Andhra Pradesh has set up a core group to promote software exports from the state. The group will study rules and guidelines for export credit from banks, the availability of infrastructure and forward and backward linkages for software exports. The core group will consist of representatives from six major banks, the state government's department of information technology, the Reserve Bank of India, the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation and from the software technology park.
