CENTURY TEXTILES POSTS LOSS

Century Textiles and Industries Ltd has posted a net loss of Rs47.26 crore on a sales of Rs448.87 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 1998. It has made a gross loss of Rs10.94 crore. Its depreciation is Rs36.26 crore and tax is Rs6 lakh. It has posted a net loss of Rs85.84 crore on a total income of Rs1,437.58 crore for the nine months ended December 31, 1998. Its performance has been affected by the strike at its pulp and paper division from November 15, 1998. (rk)(m)

GHAI GROUP TO INVEST Rs85 CR IN HOTEL BUSINESS

Article Abstract:

The Ghai group is to invest Rs85 crore in hotel business in the next 5 years. The group will spend Rs36 crore on upgrading its 4-star hotel, The Nataraj, in Mumbai to a 5-star hotel. It plans to set up a 5-star hotel in Pune at a cost of Rs50 crore. These hotels will be under the banner of GL Hotels Ltd. (gs)
