CLUTCH AUTO PLANS JV WITH GERMAN MAJOR

Article Abstract:

Clutch Auto Ltd (CAL) is tying up with Raybestos of Germany for making clutch facings in India. The German company will have 51 percent stake in the joint venture, while CAL will hold 49 percent. CAL plans to import finished products from Raybestos initially. It will start complete manufacture of clutch facings by the second half of 1999. The production facility will have a capacity of 2 million clutch facings per month. (rk)

L&T PLANS JV WITH GERMAN MAJOR FOR PAPER MACHINERY

Article Abstract:

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a Rs5,000 crore conglomerate, plans to set up a 50:50 joint venture (JV) with Voith Sulzer of Germany to manufacture paper machinery. L&T will close down its pulp and paper division after the joint venture starts its operations. This venture will help L&T expand its presence in the overseas markets and withstand the slowdown in the domestic paper sector. (khr)

INDO-GERMAN JV TO FORAY INTO INDIAN MARKET

Article Abstract:

Phoenix AG of Germany has signed pact with the Andrew Yule and Co of Calcutta for the manufacture and sale of conveyor belts. While the administrative office of the joint venture will be opened in Calcutta, the factory will be located at Kalyani. The production is likely to start on January 15, 1999. Phoenix AG has also an alliance with Sigma of Chandigarh to make automotive parts. (gs)
