COROMANDEL FERTILISERS

Coromandel Fertilisers Limited (CFL) is a joint venture of EID Parry, IMC Global Operations and Chevron Chemical Company in the US. EID Parry has a 41.6 percent stake in CFL. Its manufacturing facility is located at Visakhapatnam. It produces various grades of ammonium phosphate. It also manufactures phosphoric acid and ammonia and urea. The installed capacity of ammonium phosphate is 83,780 tonnes of nitrogen and 84,500 tonnes of phosphorus pentoxide. It produced 85,840 tonnes of nitrogen and 111,083 tonnes of phosphorus pentoxide in 1996-97. In 1997-98, it posted a sales of Rs4,671.8 million and a net profit of Rs343.7 million. In 1996-97, it posted a net profit of Rs292 million on a sales of Rs3.1 billion. It plans to spend Rs50 million for expansion of its single super phosphate capacity by 66,000 tonnes per annum. It proposes to invest Rs1.2 billion in the next three years to upgrade its facilities. It is likely to set up a tank farm for liquid cargo storage. (rk)

Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation (DFPL) manufactures nitrophosphates and ammonium nitrophosphate (ANP) is its main product. It also produces low density ammonium nitrate, methanol and concentrated and diluted nitric acid. Its installed capacity of ANP is 229,500 tonnes per annum (tpa) and methanol is 1.1 million tpa. It sells urea and di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) also. It markets seeds, micro nutrients and solid soluble fertilisers for drip irrigation segment. In 1997-98, it has posted a 38 percent growth in sales to Rs4051.3 million with a net profit of Rs511.5 million. In 1996-97, it has posted a net profit of Rs291.6 million on a sales of Rs2929.8 million. (rk)
