CPC INDIA FORMALISES DEAL WITH TARLA DALAL

Article Abstract:

Corn Products Company (CPC), a subsidiary of Bestfoods Inc of the US, has signed an agreement with Tarla Dalal Foods (TDF) and acquired the Tarla Dalal trademark along with technical know-how and manufacturing facilities at Ambernath. The deal will allow Ms Tarla Dalal rights to her cook books and cookery shows on television. She will help CPC develop new recipes and concentrate on hosting TV talk shows. TDF prepares 18 instant food mixes, including South Indian snacks like idli and dosas, Gujarati snacks like dhokla and sweets like gulab jamun and eggless cakes. The acquisition of TDF will help CPC introduce a range of ethnic vegetarian Indian foods. (khr)

CRL BOARD OKAYS Rs4,000-CRORE CAPEX PROJECT, GOVT NOD AWAITED

Article Abstract:

The detailed feasibility report on the capacity expansion of the Cochin Refineries Limited (CRL) has been approved by the board of the directors of the company. CRL will be raising its capacity to 13.5 million tonnes per annum from 7.5 million tonnes at a cost of Rs4,000 crore. CRL will be submitting the detailed feasibility report to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Government of India for its clearance. The expansion project will be commissioned by 2002-03 AD. (ag)
