Article Abstract:

Rural areas in China are disadvantaged by electricity's arbitrary price increases and unreliable delivery. The State Development Planning Commission plans to give peasants more electric power by investing over $12 bil on upgrading power grids in these areas. Many household items such as televisions, air conditioners, and radios are dependent on electricity.

Article Abstract:

The People's Bank of China sets the official exchange rate for China's yuan against foreign currencies. It is responsible for the management of the country's foreign exchange and gold reserve. The exchange rate figure has been preserved despite efforts to assist exporters whose goods have become more expensive.
