The race for respect and recognition

Article Abstract:

Three recent cases have given an interesting insight into current attitudes to ethnic minorities in the UK. Athlete Linford Christie has announced his retirement, stating that his achievements have never been treated with the respect they deserve in the UK. Media coverage of him has tended to focus on trivial issues. The case of illegal immigrant Joy Gardner, who died following brutal handling by police officers trying to deport her, highlights the obsession with illegal immigration in the UK. In Bradford, recent riots show how tension between police and ethnic minorities can easly erupt into violence.

5. ANOVA and linear regression

Article Abstract:

Two methods used to analyze relationships are assessed. The one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique tests for differences of continuous variables between more than two groups. Linear regression considers relationships between a key variable and one or more explanatory variables that may have an influence on it. Data on pain in childbirth is used to demonstrate the one-way analysis of variance.
