Cesky Telecom (CT) (Prague, Czech Republic), telecommunication firm, has arranged a contract with the public-service television Ceska televize (CTV) (Prague, Czech Republic). According to the contract, CT will ensure the digital transmission of television programmes and will ensure exclusive voice and data telecommunication services for CTV. The contract's worth is several hundreds of millions of Czech crowns. The services were ensured by Ceske radiokomunikace (CRA) (Czech Republic) for CTV before the arrangement of the contract. CRA will ensure only the broadcasting of programmes from its transmitters for CTV. CT plans to install a light-conducting data network within 18 months. The network will connect the three large television studios in Prague, Brno and Ostrava, Czech Republic, and 49 transmitters.

The company plans to invest more than 8.5 bil Kc in 1998-2000. Radiomibil invested 5 bil Kc in its initial development in 1996-1997. About 25% of the sum was invested in 1996 and the rest in 1997. The company will see a positive result in 1998, for the first time since its setting up in 1996. The 1998 profit will be used for the covering of the firm's cumulative loss of nearly 1.2 bil Kc for the last few years. Radiomobil is the operator of the GSM Paegas network.
