Changing the face of learning

Article Abstract:

Henley Management College operates a global conferencing system on the World Wide Web which allows managers to participate in exercises and projects from their bases around the world. The college makes considerable use of the Internet for its distance learning courses, and the scope for developing courses via the Internet is tremendous, however, students still need to have some direct contact with their tutor and each other if they are to get the most out of their course. The college runs two-yearly residential courses so that students can meet each other.

Training goes the distance

Article Abstract:

The IoD has produced a distance learning package called 'Business Direction' which covers four areas: business planning, staff motivation, business performance and marketing. The package was tested out on 100 firms to ensure it met their needs and that it was easy to follow. Directors who do not have the time to attend a conventional course, or who wish to further their knowledge without others knowing, are choosing the distance learning route. There are currently 300 organisations which offer distance learning courses.
