In a departure from tradition, Chinese companies are seeking out investor-relations consultants to handle any major crisis and to inform the investors of any bad news thus preventing bad publicity. The potential foreign investors in the overseas market expect disclosures regarding the company and so public relations campaigns are increasing in China.

As Chinese markets are filled with savvy local brands, food and packaged goods from multinational companies are flavored with local Chinese tastes to boost their sales and attract new Chinese consumers. The success achieved by companies like Anglo-Dutch Unilever and America's P&G in their makeover efforts is analyzed.

Converting the masses: Starbucks in China

Article Abstract:

Starbucks efforts to sell coffee in China is analyzed in this article. Included in the marketing plan is finding locations of high foot traffic where people who wished to be seen can sit outdoors talking with friends. As of 2003, Starbucks has 69 coffee shops in China.
