China irks U.S. as it uses trade to embellish newfound clout

Article Abstract:

China is evolving into a major world player with trade agreements in the works with 25 countries and multiple bids for energy resources and other assets. However China is courting countries that are on the outs with the United States. "China's involvement with troublesome states indicates at best a blindness to consequences and at worst something more ominous" said Robert Zoellick, United States Deputy Secretary of State.

U.S. takes patient tack on Yuan as China talks are set to open

Article Abstract:

John Snow of the United States Department of the Treasury is to travel to Beijing to discuss the state of the Yuan's rate. The currency was revalued three months ago but has hardly moved since. The goal of the negotiations is to produce more flexibility in the Yuan.
