Malaysia's silicon wafer-fabrication venture is gambling on a global semiconductor boom to dig its way out of a deep financial hole. Malaysian Prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is supporting the wafer-fabrication ventures, despite pulling the plug on some costly projects inherited from the Manhathir era.

The problems faced by non-Muslims in the Islamic legal system in Malaysia are numerous. A Hindu mother's legal battle to have her minor children's conversion, which was without her consent, to be declared illegal is highlighted.
