Comment on a decision support approach for negotiation: software vs. methodology

Article Abstract:

Research on decision support systems involving both methodology and software should present a clear description of how a particular system operates. Numerical examples or case studies that can be validated by other researchers should be included in such studies. The RAMONA negotiation support system proposed recently in the European Journal of Operations Research, while appearing to be a promising approach, was not sufficiently described. The results of the case study are shown to be irreproducible with the methodology described, rendering others unable to study the approach.

The development, validation and implementation of knowledge-based systems

Article Abstract:

The period from 1990 to 1995 contributed key changes in the extent and use of knowledge-based systems (KBS) as opposed to its slow growth in 1985 to 1990. Different systems are now widely used while the productivity of some system applications has resulted to its functional classifications. Most importantly, the installation of KBS has matured from technology-impaired to methodology-based. Its systematic application includes gathering of related information, then the needed three-step process of development, validation and implementation.
