Commercial radio in Europe

Article Abstract:

Deregulation has had minimal effect on radio advertising expenditures In Europe. Eventhough many new stations and networks have emerged in the continent, radio's share of total display advertising has remained at approximately 5.5% over the past ten years. State monopoly of radio stations is still pervasive in Austria while France has over 1,000 channels. However, radio's total share of advertising expenditures is not related to the number of channels or the level of deregulation.
