Comverse reduces its profit estimates for quarter, year

Comverse Technologies Inc. has lowered its profit forecasts for the 2001 second-quarter and full-year. The company now forecasts approximately 28 US cents (33 European cents) per share earnings, compared to the previously expected 43 cents per share.

Cendant agrees to buy Avis for up to $1 billion

Article Abstract:

Cendant Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire Avis Group Holdings Inc. for $900 million to $1 billion (1.04 billion euros to 1.16 billion euros). Avis stockholders will receive $33 per share according to the terms of the deal.
