Article Abstract:

US petroleum firm ConocoPhillps has put its Sichuan province-based block in China up for sale in a rare instance of a Chinese asset being sold by a foreign company. The Chuan Zhong block totals 118 hectares and in 2006 averaged 10.3 mil cubic feet of gas daily. ConocoPhillips launched the sale in order to concentrate its efforts on an offshore block in Bohai Bay in northern China, currently the nation's largest oil field discovery by a foreign firm.
