Cook Islands building up Tuna industry

Article Abstract:

Cook Islands u a self-governing Pacific state in free association with New Zealand borders five give other Pacific Island nations and forms part of the Western and Central Pacific Tuna fishery. The annual revenue from fishing licenses has been NZ $400,000. Plans to provide necessary shore infrastructure like a harbor, set up ice plants and vessel repairs facilities are underway on the Cook Islands .

Huge EU project aims to cut by-catches

Article Abstract:

The aims and objectives of Nephrops and Catecean Species Selection Information and Technology, or Necessity as it is commonly known, are discussed. The organization is formed by collaboration of research institutes of 23 countries to reduce by-catches in the prawns and Catecean species. Apart from that, the organization aims at reducing accidental catches of marine mammals.

Canada steps up patrols

Article Abstract:

Canada has increased its air surveillance and sea patrols with a view to combat foreign overfishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Information collected from air surveillance and sea patrol would help fishing officers in investigation against vessels engaged in illegal fishing.
