Corbis of U.S. is acquiring French photo firm Sygma

Article Abstract:

Corbis Corp (Bellevue, WA) is acquired Sygma (Paris, France), in a move that will create a combined archive of 65 million photographic images. Corbis will also add Sygma's 650,000 digital images to the 1.5 million already in the Corbis collection. Corbis has the resources to digitize the rest of Sygma's collection, and Sygma will provide the news content that Corbis feels it lacks. Sygma's 1998 revenues were FFr 180 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
