Curbs on German growth-stock trading rejected

Article Abstract:

Deutsche Boerse AG Chairman Reto Francioni said in an interview that his company will not launch a mandatory price or volume limit for stock orders in its Neuer Markt. Critics of the Neuer Markt contend that limiting buy orders in price and volume would prevent the risk of high volatility brought by strong demand in a small market. Currently, there are 31 companies listed on the growth-stock market, with 11 companies going public on the Neuer Markt over three months. Deutsche Boerse, an operator of the Frankfurt, Germany, stock exchange, hopes to have additional 20 listings by the end of 1998.
