SHRIRAM HONDA TO CHANGE NAME TO HONDA SIEL POWER PRODUCTS

Article Abstract:

Shriram Honda Power Equipment Ltd (SHPEL), a portable genset producer, plans to rename itself as Honda Siel Power Products Ltd. SHPEL's decision follows a rise in the Honda Motor Company's (HMC) stake in the company to 66.66 percent from 56.66 percent. The new name is expected to indicate a change in ownership. HMC will now be nominating six directors to the board of SHPEL while Siel will be nominating four directors. One of the nominee will be the chairman of the company. During 1997-98, SHPEL raised its production capacity to 175,000 units per annum from 125,000 per annum. (ag)
