DENMARK: CARLSBERG TO RETAIN STAKE IN DAGROFA

Article Abstract:

The Danish brewery company Carlsberg has decided to retain its 10% stake in Dagrofa, the Danish wholesaler of everyday commodities, even though the new strategy includes concentrating on beer and soft drink activities. A reason behind this may be that Dagrofa is the biggest purchaser in Denmark of Carlsberg's products. Grocers have been interested in acquiring shares in Dagrofa, but this is no longer possible as none of the major shareholders will sell off their stakes. The main shareholder is Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni, the Danish tobacco group, which owns a 55% stake. The grocers now aim at acquiring shares in Super-Gros, which is a company under Dagrofa.

Denmark: KFI buys Carlsberg's stake in Dagrofa

Article Abstract:

KFI has bought Carlsberg's stake in Dagrofa, the leading wholesaler in Denmark that supplies groceries to retailers, kiosks and catering operations. The acquisition brings KFI's shareholding in Dagrofa to 45% whereas the remaining stake is owned by Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni. Marcus Choleva, the head of KFI, aims to use its ownership stake in Dagrofa to make Dagrofa join a strong Nordic alliance to compete with Coop Norden, the Nordic co-op merger. According to the paper, the most likely partners would be Sweden's Axfood, and Norway's NorgesGruppen. Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni will not stand in the way for KFI's plans.
