DENMARK: DSV'S FIRST HALF 2001 RESULT

Article Abstract:

DSV, the Danish transport giant, shows an operating profit of DKr276mn in the first half of 2001 on a turnover of almost DKr10bn (US$1.1bn). The company is satisfied with the first-half results even though it has problems in the Swedish market, which is its most important market outside of Denmark. DSV's operating profit in Sweden in the first half of 2001 was DKr22mn on a turnover of DKr1.8bn. DSV's take-over of DFDS Transport in Sweden is yet to be completed. In Sweden, DSV is to cut costs in DFDS Nordisk Transport (NTS) and to merge the company with DFDS Fraktarna. DVS stands by its forecast of a pre-tax profit of DKr310mn and a turnover of DKr20.2bn for the whole of 2001.
