Daimler, Nissan discuss link focused on Asia

Article Abstract:

Daimler-Benz AG and Nissan Motor Co. said they are discussing a possible alliance of their commercial vehicle businesses. The companies are talking about possible joint development, production and sales of commercial vehicles and parts, particularly in Asia. A Daimler spokesperson refused to comment whether discussions involve a possible equity stake, although Daimler is known to prefer to have controlling stakes in joint ventures. The spokesperson also revealed that Nissan is one of a few companies Daimler is currently talking with, but refused to reveal the name of others.

Germany bristles at Nokia's plan to move plant, jobs to Romania

Article Abstract:

The German government is examining options following the announcement that Finnish telecommunications equipment maker Nokia Corp. plans to close a plant in Germany and relocate the work to Romania. Nokia states the plant is not competitive. Upon inquiry by the German government, the European Commission stated that Nokia would not receive any EU assistance for the relocation.

Germany's growth rates will likely remain modest
