Dairy products in Germany

Article Abstract:

The overall value of the output of the German milk processing products industry varied between DM37.14 billion and DM37.55 billion in the period 1995 to 1998. This figure excludes ice cream processing, worth an additional DM2 billion to DM3 billion. Exports of dairy products fell by 5% in 1998 from 1997 to DM8.5 billion. In volume terms, exports were 4.9 million tonnes, with milk and cream accounting for some 47% of this total. Germany is the largest European Union exporter of cheese and yoghurt to non-European Union countries.
