A new report by Wood Mackenzie claims oil companies have not been as successful in discovering new reserves as recent statistics show. Because reserves discovered do not have to be cited in Securities and Exchange Commision filings until they are actually extracted, some new discoveries are actually old discoveries spread out over time.
